20" Funch Cymbal – 1692 grams – #43
Mint condition, essentially as new, showing only the lightest finger marks from careful handling.
This is a beautifully crafted, hand-hammered cymbal by Lasse Funch Sørensen, founder and sole craftsman behind Funch Cymbals. Each cymbal is individually made from start to finish by Lasse himself, ensuring absolute consistency, attention to detail, and a truly personal touch.
Educated as a jazz drummer at the Danish National Academy of Music, Lasse studied traditional Turkish cymbal-making techniques in Istanbul and blends them with his own deep understanding of jazz performance. His work is inspired by the golden era of jazz from the early 1960s, with a clear focus on musicality, nuance, and playability in acoustic settings.
This 20" example (No. 43), weighing 1692 grams, offers exceptional responsiveness, refined stick definition, and a warm, complex wash—perfectly balanced for modern and traditional jazz applications alike. A highly musical instrument crafted with the ear of a drummer and the hands of a master cymbal smith.
“As a drummer I am familiar with the quest for a sound that’s just right for me. Years of playing have tuned my ear to know exactly what to listen out for. I pour this knowledge and intuition into each and every cymbal I make.”
