15" Zildjian K Canada Hi-Hat Cymbals – Late 1970s (1283g / 1248g)

Era: Late 1970s (circa 1978–1981)
Weights: Top 1283g • Bottom 1248g
Condition: Excellent used condition. All ink logos are crisp and clearly visible, with no cracks, keyholing, or issues of any kind.

An exceptionally rare and highly desirable set of K Zildjian Canada Hi-Hats, produced for a very short and transitional period when K cymbals were manufactured in Canada. Production lasted only a few years, making surviving examples—especially in this condition—extremely difficult to find.

These cymbals occupy a fascinating place in Zildjian history. As noted by historians and collectors, the hammering and lathing on some Canadian K cymbals closely resembles Istanbul New Stamp K’s, while others show clear similarities to early Sabian HH cymbals. This is no coincidence: many of the craftsmen who later shaped the Sabian HH line worked on these Canadian K’s, having been trained by artisans connected to the original Istanbul K factory—an authentic example of technology and tradition transfer in action.

Sound character:
Dark, rich, and authoritative with excellent weight balance. The heavier pairing delivers a deep, powerful, and articulate “chick”, while open tones are full, complex, and controlled. Compared to lighter K hi-hats, these offer more body and projection while retaining the warmth and musical depth expected from classic K cymbals.

Highlights:

  • Extremely rare K Zildjian Canada production

  • Made during a short, historic manufacturing window (1978–1981)

  • Craftsmanship linked to Istanbul K tradition and early Sabian HH

  • Strong, deep “chick” with rich, dark open tones

  • Excellent condition with well-preserved logos

  • Highly collectible yet fully gig-worthy
