Slingerland Radio King Solid Shell Snare Drum
14" × 6" — Duco Blue & Silver Finish (1955–1959)

A true American classic, this Slingerland Radio King solid shell snare drum dates from the 1955–1959 period, identified by the correct small oval badge. Finished in the striking Duco Blue & Silver, it represents one of the most revered snare designs in drum history.

The drum features a single-ply, steam-bent solid maple shell, paired with the original 3-point strainer, which operates perfectly. With 8 original lugs and original hoops, it remains in excellent condition for an instrument of this era.

Vintage Radio King solid shell drums are renowned for their unmistakable voice—warm, resonant, and focused—a result of their unique shell construction and bearing edges. The rounded 30-degree bearing edges increase head-to-shell contact, producing a fat, full-bodied tone with rich sustain and controlled overtones.

Construction Highlights

  • Shell: Single-ply, solid North American maple, steam-bent into a seamless cylinder

  • Bearing Edges: Rounded 30° profile for enhanced warmth and resonance

  • Strainer: Original 3-point throw-off

  • Lugs: 8 original

  • Hoops: Original

The snare has been carefully stripped and thoroughly cleaned, preserving its vintage character while ensuring full playability.

It will be professionally packed and shipped worldwide from Portugal.
