1969 Gretsch Model 4160 COB Snare Drum 14x5 – Chrome Over Brass

A beautiful vintage example from 1969, featuring the original paper tag (serial #111659) confirming its production year.

This 14" x 5" Chrome Over Brass (COB) snare delivers the classic Gretsch tone—warm, articulate, and highly responsive, with that unmistakable vintage character that sits perfectly in both studio and live settings.

Condition is very good for its age, with honest signs of use but no issues affecting performance. A well-preserved and fully functional instrument.

  • Lightning Throw-Off #5378 (1967–1974)
  • Rear Snare Bracket – 4-point version of #5381 (1960–1977)
  • Internal Muffler – Rectangular #5540
  • Original Gretsch Tuning Key

Upgrades / additions:

  • 42-strand snare wires (aftermarket) for increased sensitivity and body
  • Evans UV1 Coated Drumhead batter head for durability and consistency
